Here at dlvr.it we’re always cooking up new ways for you to package and distribute your content. Today, we’re pleased to introduce our latest innovation — the Flipstream.

A Flipstream is a collection of web pages shared together in an easy-to-flip, magazine-like bundle. You can create a Flipstream to share a group of your personally curated web pages. Here’s an example: http://flip.dlvr.it/1L

Flipstreams are a great way to drive more traffic to your site and increase engagement with your content. You can connect your visitors to a bundle of webpages with a single link shared via your social networks. And viewers can easily share your content via Twitter and Facebook right from the Flipstream viewer.

To create your own Flipstream and share via your social networks:

1. Log into your dlvr.it account

2. Go to Post > Flipstream

3. Enter the URL of the webpages for your Flipstream and post to your social networks. Here’s a screengrab of the Flipstream creation interface.

We’ll keep track of your Flipstream stats, including the total number of visits to your Flipstream and the number of views on each individual page in your bundle.

With the recent launch of Google+ (Google Plus) many dlvr.it users want to connect Google+ to Twitter and Facebook. And while Google has yet to launch an official Google+ API, a growing number of our users are using dlvr.it to automatically send their Google+ posts to Twitter and Facebook. Here’s an unofficial way to connect Google+ to your Twitter and Facebook accounts.

1. Get the feed of your Google+ posts

Simply add a Google+ user number to the end of this URL (http://dlvritplus.appspot.com) to get an Atom feed of public Google+ posts.

Example: The atom feed of Robert Scoble’s public Google+ posts is: http://dlvritplus.appspot.com/111091089527727420853

You’ll use your http://dlvritplus.appspot.com URL to distribute your Google+ posts to Twitter and Facebook using http://dlvr.it.

2. Publish your Google+ posts to Twitter and Facebook using dlvr.it

a. Create a dlvr.it account

b. Enter you dlvritPlus feed URL from step 1 as your Feed URL

c. Follow the easy steps to authorize dlvr.it to post to your Twitter account

d. Follow the steps to authorize dlvr.it to post to your Facebook page

Detailed Tutorial

Here’s a detailed step-by-step tutorial with screenshots of each step in the process.

Note: This approach is not officially supported by Google and is subject to change without notice.

You can now get a quick, up-to-date view of your social syndication performance with dlvr.it’s new stats dashboard. The new dlvr.it dashboard gives you a snapshot of the key metrics across your social syndication routes, including audience growth, item clicks, posting volume, popular items, and geographic distribution.

We’ll compare your most recent 24 hours of activity to the last 30 days. This gives you a clear picture of how your current efforts are shaping up compared to the last 30 days. We’ll also tell you your popular items over the last week and show you where your visitors are coming from.

Now you can keep your finger on the pulse of your social syndication with an easy-to-digest view of your key content distribution stats. To check out your dlvr.it dashboard, log into your dlvr.it account, and go to Stats > Dashboard.

To experience the full power of dlvr.it’s stats dashboard you’ll need to be using dlvr.it’s url shortener to shorten your links. If you’re a bit.ly user, don’t despair! We are beta testing a service to import your bit.ly click stats into dlvr.it.

We’re pleased to introduce three new features this week. Here’s to spring!

Geotags
dlvr.it now passes location info to Twitter when we make a post on your behalf. By including location info with your tweets, your readers will enjoy enhanced location-related information when reading your tweets on Twitter. And your tweets will appear in Twitter search results with location data, making your tweets even more discoverable and relevant.

To activate geotagging, you’ll need to turn on geo tagging for each of your feeds in dlvr.it. We’ll get the geo coordinates (if available) in your feed items and pass those along to Twitter. If your feeds don’t have geo info, you can set the location for each of your feeds in dlvr.it by simply clicking your location on a map, and we’ll pass that info along when we post items to Twitter. You’ll also need to turn on location in your Twitter account – go to http://twitter.com, and under “Settings”, make sure the “Add a location to your tweets” option is checked.

dlvr.it supports both ‘geo:lat/geo:long’ and ‘georss:point’ elements.

We’ll be rolling location functionality to other social networks in the near future. More on GeoRSS.

Interactive Content Stats
We’ve had many requests for enhanced stats and reporting. And we are pleased to bring you the first of several new stats features. You can now explore your dlvr.it content and social stats with new and improved interactive graphs and charts. Roll over, scroll and zoom around on your stats to gain new insights into your audience and content metrics and trends. We are excited by the new design and we love the rich interactivity even more.

We’ve also added search to our stats pages, so you can quickly navigate to the Route and Social stats you want to review.

Direct Post Enhancements
A rapidly growing number of dlvr.it users are heavy users of dlvr.it’s manual posting function — located in the “Post” tab in our top navigation. Manual posting allows editors and writers to type a post within dlvr.it, manually select which Social Networks to post to, and schedule the time and day for delivery. dlvr.it attaches tracking links to your manual posts and tracks all the stats right inside dlvr.it.

We are pleased to introduce the most sought after addition to the manual post function – the ability to choose many social accounts for posting with the click of a button. This allows users with many accounts to effortlessly make manual posts to all their networks with a single click.

We’re fired up!
Watch for significant enhancements to dlvr.it stats and editorial driven posts in the coming weeks.

dlvr.it now supports popular url shorteners su.pr, migre.me, cli.gs, is.gd and many more! In fact, you can now utilize any third party shortening service that provides API access and returns the shortened URL in plain text format.

Support for these new shorteners is in addition to dlvr.it’s existing support for bit.ly, bit.ly pro, and your own custom domains. You publish, and we’ll deliver your content using your favorite link shortener!

To start using a third party shortener:

1. Log into dlvr.it

2. Go to Settings > Short Links

3. Select “+Add shortener”

4. Choose “3rd Party Shortener”

5. Enter a name for the shortening service.

We suggest using the short url domain. For instance, if you are using su.pr short links, we recommend using the name su.pr.

6. Add the URL dlvr.it should use for communicating with your shortening service’s API.

Replace the actual URL in the API request with the macro @URL@ (make sure URL is all caps). For instance, if you are using su.pr to shorten links: http://su.pr/api/simpleshorten?url=@URL@

You may include as many parameters in the API request as necessary. For instance:

http://su.pr/api/simpleshorten?login=janedoe&apiKey=48d1d55b5a48d4ec2c5152f4419b3c44&url=@URL@

7. Save

dlvr.it expects responses from the API to be in a plain text format such as: http://su.pr/abc123

At this time, we’re not processing JSON or XML formatted responses.
